In Amsterdam, PostNL picks up mail form mail collection boxes and delivers and picks up B2B mail and parcels. They operate from a warehouse outside the city-centre. The pilot demonstrates how this can be done by means of e-freight bikes instead of vans and introduces microhubs in Amsterdam.
BAU | All transport between the PostNL warehouse and Amsterdam city-centre is done by means of diesel vans. |
A1 | 63% of the shipments from and to Amsterdam goes through 7 micro-hubs and is delivered or picked up by e-cargo bikes. Transport between PostNL warehouse and microhubs is done by diesel trucks (twice a day), 37% is done like in BAU. |
